This is a story of boy meets girl.
The boy, Bill Jendrzejek of Wind Lake, Wisconsin, grew up believing that he wouldn’t find the girl of his dreams. This belief stemmed from early exposure to grunge music and a total mis-reading of the movie ‘The Princess Bride’.
The girl, Meredith Jung of Ojai, California, did not share this belief. Since she was introduced to the Little Mermaid in 1988 she was certain of just two things. The first was that her prince charming had to be out there somewhere. The second was that she didn’t need a prince to save her.
Bill met Meredith at Charlotte-Ann Riffey’s booth party on April 2nd. He knew almost immediately she was who he had been searching for. She thought he was a cute guy, but didn’t attach any importance to the moment–just walking out the door that evening like she always does at the end of a party. Luckily, Bill tracked her down and they went on their first date the weekend after.
In January of 2015, Bill had made up his mind that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Meredith and that he wanted the rest of his life to start that day, so he decided to pop the question.
On January 19th on a secluded beach in Hawaii, Bill told Meredith how much he loves that she gets cold when it’s 71 degrees out and that she’s the last person he wants to talk to before he goes to sleep at night. Then he dropped to one knee and asked her to promise that he’d never have to be out there again. And she promised he’d never have to be out there again.
